New electrical wiring and socket installation

Planned installations

Full & partial
rewiring in London.

Thoughtful electrical planning for renovations, extensions, individual rooms and complete properties.

Electrical wiring designed around the property

A successful rewire is not only about replacing cables. It is an opportunity to plan where power, lighting and controls should be located for the way the property will actually be used. AVAG works with homeowners, landlords and other trades to agree the electrical layout before installation begins.

Projects can range from one renovated room or an extension to a full rewire of an occupied or empty property. The condition of the existing installation, access, finishes and building programme all affect the scope.

Full rewiresNew circuits and accessories throughout the property.
Partial rewiresTargeted work for selected rooms, circuits or alterations.
ExtensionsPower and lighting planned for new living space.
RenovationsCoordination with builders, kitchens and interior work.

Planning the electrical layout

Before quoting, we discuss room use, furniture positions and the equipment that needs power. This helps avoid inconvenient socket positions or insufficient lighting later. The plan may cover sockets, switches, lighting zones, fixed appliances, data requirements and dedicated circuits.

Access routes are also considered. Rewiring often involves lifting floors, opening selected wall areas or working before plastering and decoration. Coordinating the sequence with other trades helps reduce rework and protects the final finish.

When might rewiring be considered?

  • The existing installation is old, altered extensively or in poor condition.
  • A test has identified significant defects or limitations.
  • The property is undergoing a major refurbishment.
  • More circuits and power points are required than the existing layout can support conveniently.
  • An extension, loft conversion or new kitchen changes the electrical requirements.
Can a property be partially rewired?+

Yes. Where appropriate, work can focus on selected circuits or areas. The existing installation must still be assessed so the new work can be integrated correctly.

Should rewiring happen before decorating?+

Usually yes. Cable routes and accessory boxes may require access behind finishes, so rewiring is best coordinated before plastering and final decoration.

How do you quote a rewire?+

A useful quotation requires a clear scope, property assessment and agreed layout. Plans and renovation drawings can help.
